Walk along the Thames

Walk along the Thames
We will start with a walk along the Thames with LondonRoam.

The beginning of the route: Big Ben.
End of the route: Monument

Approximate walking time: 1h 30 min. Distance to travel: 6.5 km

We can reach the starting point by London public transport. Our walk along the Thames begins from Westminster - here you can find, among others Westminster Abbey, Parliament and Big Ben. We cross the river with Westminster Bridge and turn left towards the London Eye. On the way we pass County Hall, the former headquarters of the Council of Greater London, the Dali Universe museum, the Eye of London, Jubilee Gardens and the London Aquarium. We continue walking along the waterfront, passing the Southbank Center, which is one of the largest art centers, the National Theater theater and the characteristic building of the former power plant, and now the modern art gallery Tate Modern. Bankside also has a Shakespearean theater, The Globe.

Behind the Southwark bridge, the dock was reconstructed by Francis Drake's galleon,
Golden Hinde. Nearby is one of the largest historic churches, Southwark Cathedral, and also one of the largest marketplaces in London: Borough Market. Continuing our walk along the River Thames, we pass the cruiser HMS Belfast, who participated in the Second World War, until we reach the Tower Bridge, on the way looking at the characteristic building in the shape of an egg, or City Hall. We cross the river through Tower Bridge and head to the right to look for a moment at the St. Catherine.

We pass the Tower Bridge and we are at the Tower of London, in the background we can also see the glass buildings of the City financial district. We follow the Thames back towards Westminster and reach the Monument Monument built by Christopher Wren, which commemorates the defeat caused by the great fire in 1666. It is worth entering the top of the monument Monument, from which there is a nice view of the city.
